Investigation 03 / Synthetic control

Learn what we miss.

How does recovery change with injected strength and drift?

Follow-up / Detector audit completed for one cadence.

This recovery grid predates the detector correction. It remains historical evidence and must be rerun before calibrating the corrected configuration. Read the report and reproduce the checks →

01

Make the answer known

Generate synthetic drifting signals with setigen. These are controlled inputs, explicitly separate from telescope observations.

02

Vary two properties

Test eight injected SNR levels and nine drift rates, with five trials per cell. This records 360 recovery decisions.

03

Inspect the misses

Select a cell to read its recovered count. A result of five out of five describes those five trials; it is not proof of perfect detection probability.

04

Carry the limits forward

Any interpretation of a future search must account for detector sensitivity and failure modes. A blank search table alone cannot establish that detectable signals were absent.

What this establishes

Recovery depends strongly on drift and injected strength in this configuration. No tested strength recovered every trial across ±3 Hz/s. This is a synthetic detector check, not telescope survey completeness.
